The Constitution of The United States is the supreme law of our country. Our fore fathers wrote this document after great debate and frequently heated arguments. They were searching for the foundation that would guide the leaders of our county, not only at the present, but for the future as well. These men had great foresight as to the issues to come that would impact this country.
Today the constitution is being ignored by many if not all politicians. The very people that we elect to up hold the constitution are violating it. We live in a time when the politicians pick and choose the laws they enforce. Sanctuary cities is just one example of how the laws of the country are ignored. Illegal means illegal but the leaders of these cities disregard the law and protect the very people who are breaking our laws.
The constitution was developed to protect the citizens of this great nation from a government that is over zealous and controlling. Much like England was when this document was created.
The constitution creates a national government consisting of a legislative, an executive, and a judicial branch. It has a system of checks and balances among the three branches. It also divides power between the federal government and the states.
There are six main goals associated with this document. They are to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
The constitution is a wonderful document and should not be ignored. Instead it should be embraced by all citizens of the United States. You can find a complete copy online. Take a few minutes and read it. Then think about the effort it took to create such a document. Consider writing congress and the senate and tell the members to start following it. It could be just what our country needs today.
