The Journey Is Tough

The journey of life is tough. It can sap the strength from even the strongest of men and women. Life takes many unexpected turns. Some are good and some are bad. Each day life presents itself with new tragedies in our society. A six year old boy shot and killed by his father. A police officer serving his community has his life cut short by an evil gun man. A firefighter at a scene of an accident is struck and killed by passing car. A 30 year old woman diagnosed with cancer that had spread throughout her body. The list can go on and on.

The journey is tough. It seems there are many angry people in our society just waiting for the opportunity to curse someone out, argue or fight. In addition we are creating a generation that no longer need to communicate face to face. It can all be done over social media. Therefore hurtful things can be said without facing the individual.

The journey is tough and it’s easy to lose hope and when hope is lost people fail to thrive. I have found there is only one place I can find hope. The Bible. It is the true word of God. The Bible remains at the top of the list for best selling books.

The Bible is God’s word for us to follow. It is the compass for our life journey. The Bible points us true north. True north is a personal relationship with God. God is our only hope in our journey through life.

In my blogs I have provided information on self defense, emergency care, disaster preparedness and weapons for protection. All of these topics are useful information but are small in comparison to the life changing word of God.

Society encourages us to seek pleasure in our life. TV commercials tell us we deserve to be happy. Use this credit card. Invest in this stock. Money will make us happy. Well I know several people who have a great deal of money and they appear miserable in their life. The search for happiness continues to be elusive to those searching in the wrong places.

True happiness comes from a personal relationship with God. Now I’m not saying that once you have this relationship it will be a smooth journey with no obstacles or pain. But in this relationship God is always there to pick you up when you fall down. Even in the hardest times God is there to comfort and to love you. You begin to trust and to rely on God in all aspects of your life. The journey is rough but God is their to help and guide you.

I was once asked if I could describe the Bible in one word. The word I chose was “Love”. This is a love that is hard to understand. God’s love for us is far reaching. God has true abounding love for us and He wants a personal relationship with us.

I could go on and on but I hope I have wet your appetite to search the Bible for truth. The Bible is an intriguing book that was inspired by God and will give you many answers for your journey. My challenge for you is only to try to read a chapter a day and then meditate. Ask God to reveal the meaning of His word for you.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

The Law Of The Land

The Constitution of The United States is the supreme law of our country. Our fore fathers wrote this document after great debate and frequently heated arguments. They were searching for the foundation that would guide the leaders of our county, not only at the present, but for the future as well. These men had great foresight as to the issues to come that would impact this country.

Today the constitution is being ignored by many if not all politicians. The very people that we elect to up hold the constitution are violating it. We live in a time when the politicians pick and choose the laws they enforce. Sanctuary cities is just one example of how the laws of the country are ignored. Illegal means illegal but the leaders of these cities disregard the law and protect the very people who are breaking our laws.

The constitution was developed to protect the citizens of this great nation from a government that is over zealous and controlling. Much like England was when this document was created.

The constitution creates a national government consisting of a legislative, an executive, and a judicial branch. It has a system of checks and balances among the three branches. It also divides power between the federal government and the states.

There are six main goals associated with this document. They are to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

The constitution is a wonderful document and should not be ignored. Instead it should be embraced by all citizens of the United States. You can find a complete copy online. Take a few minutes and read it. Then think about the effort it took to create such a document. Consider writing congress and the senate and tell the members to start following it. It could be just what our country needs today.

A Critical Time For Our Country

When I was in high school I had a great government teacher. The country was heavily involved in the unpopular Vietnam War. Riots were a common occurrence around the United States. Radical groups such as the Students For A Democratic Society and the Black Panthers were very out spoken and used every means possible to push their agenda.

My high school government teacher was one of a kind. He taught us to look at both sides of a situation and how we should evaluate it. He asked the school administrators if he could bring in representatives of the Black Panthers and the SDS. He wanted his students to hear the agenda of these groups. He wanted his students to see what their values were and how they viewed our country. Unfortunately the administrators would not allow it.

That teacher made a profound prediction back in 1970. He said, “The members and followers of these radical groups will someday be the editors of large newspapers, tv news bureaus, college professors, CEO’s of large corporations and politicians. They will have the power and the means to push there agendas in an attempt to change our nation.”

There is little doubt that my government teacher’s prediction is unfolding before our very eyes. Many college professors now teach those issues that coincides with their personal beliefs instead of curriculum. And these same professors have little or no patience for the conservative students.

The media no longer report the news. Instead they provide their opinions in an attempt to slant news to support their beliefs and agendas. Far left politicians no longer listen to the people they serve. They feel they know what is best for the people. In many cases this means a bigger government that will provide more free programs and more restrictions.

We are at a critical time in our society. A time that, may in fact, define our country’s future. The left continues to disregard court justice by prosecuting the accused in the media instead of the courtroom. If they don’t get their way they will riot and or disrupt society with their temper tantrums.

We must stand up for our nations values. The very values this country was founded on. We must stand up for the constitution and justice as defined by the courts and the constitution. This is a great country and we must not allow the extremist to destroy what so many people died to protect. Some believe a revolution is at hand. Do we allow it to continue or do we stand up and say no. What are you going to do?

Where Are Those Keys?

So you’re late for work and can’t find your keys. You look high and low but no keys are found. Initially frustration sets in. But as time goes by frustration leads to anger. Where did I put those keys?

Many people in our country are trying to figure out what has happened to our society. Why are people so angry? A car cuts off another in heavy traffic. The driver that was cut off is now raging mad. When traffic stops both individuals exit their vehicles and a fight ensues. No damage was done to either vehicle but the anger and rage leads the two to a physical confrontation.

A 19 year old who was expelled from school is outraged. He ponders his situation and grows more and more angry. His anger goes to the point of wanting to kill others. “I’m suffering so I want others to suffer.”

What has happened? Why are people so angry, self centered and ready for a fight? It has been a long journey for me but I have learned what I believe is the answer to this question.

First, I believe that, like the keys, people are lost and are searching. They are searching for:

Love, true love that is undeniable.

Hope, in a world that seems upside down.

Encouragement, when there seems to be no answers.

Light, in a very dark world.

Direction, in a confused world.

Forgiveness, of wrongdoing.

Second, I believe that many people are searching for these things in the wrong places. They turn to drugs, gangs, money and other worldly items. When these do not produce the results they anticipated, they first become frustrated and then angry. They become much like a stick of dynamite ready to explode. All they need is a small spark to set them off into a raging tirade.

In my journey in life I have found that the world does not offer much in the way of my spiritual needs. Jesus Christ is the only person who can fill all of the above needs and more. When we place our trust in Him and develop a true relationship, He walks with us through life. He guides us, gives wisdom through God’s word and loves us like no other can.

When bad things happen in our world people want to place blame. They come up with many ideas as to what or who causes the negativity in society. They tend to ignore the fact that the world in general has turned it’s back on God. It is not popular to follow Jesus. It may even be seen as a weakness.

The fact is the believer will never be closer to hell than they are here on earth. But the non-believer will never be closer to heaven than they are here on earth.

We live in tough times and there appears to be no end in sight of the terrible atrocities we see on the news. My belief is we are all broken people. The only true way to heal us is through Jesus. You may disagree. If so, what do you think will fix the world?

Oh by the way. Those keys? They were in your pocket all the time.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
