You just received your CCW license. Now the question is, do I want to carry my gun on a daily basis? I have had students tell me, “I will carry my gun only when I think I will need it.” Well if I think I’m going to need it, I’m probably not going there. The point is you never know when an evil person is going to try to do harm. Being prepared is the best option.
Carrying a gun is a big responsibility. One that each individual must decide for themselves. My wife works in a large medical center which prohibits guns. Therefore she decided not to carry her gun when at work. Some of her co-workers have decided to take the chance and carry their guns at work.
No one knows when they may need there gun. If you need it and you are not carrying at the time, the results could prove to be devastating. I’m not advocating carrying your gun where it is prohibited but I believe you should be carrying your gun daily. Once you make that decision you must determine how you will carry.
Today people have many opinions as to how they will carry their gun. Here are a few examples.
In the waistband holster
Conceal Carry Purse
Fanny pack
Center of your back
On your hip
Appendix
Cross Draw
In a pocket
There are pros and cons to each of these methods. It is a personal decision that each person make for themselves.
Surveys have shown that in the waistband holsters are by far the most popular way to carry. The gun is deep concealed and most people say it is comfortable. I tried this method and did not like it. Many of my friends however choose this as their favorite method of choice.
Deep concealment of your weapon is important. In some states if your gun is seen you could be arrested. It is also important that you maintain concealment so if your gun is needed it will be a complete surprise if it is pulled on a bad guy.
Carrying in the winter is easier to conceal a gun than in summer. More clothing means more concealment. You may change your method of carrying your gun depending on the season.
Whatever method you choose is important to make sure the gun is in the same general area all the time. Muscle memory in a critical situation will force you to reach for your gun in the same general area each time.
Carrying a gun for personal defense is a big responsibility. But if it is done properly and with the right training and attitude, it can provide peace of mind as well.
Can a green card holder leave in Ohio for 10 years with no record apply for ccw license. If yes how?
Sorry for delay. You should talk to your local sheriffs department.
